Know your site is down before your customers do
Uptime Dog checks your websites, APIs, cron jobs and servers around the clock, confirms every failure from more than one place, and gets the right person out of bed. Your status page keeps everyone else informed.
Free plan with 20 monitors. No card needed.
One place for everything that can break
Set up a check in a minute. Each one runs on its own schedule and keeps a history you can dig into.
Websites and APIs
HTTP checks with any method, headers, body and basic auth. Choose which status codes count as up, and follow or stop at redirects.
Keyword checks
Make sure a page says what it should: alert when a word goes missing, or when an error message turns up.
SSL certificates
Expiry warnings days ahead, plus alerts for chains that are self-signed, mismatched or untrusted.
Cron jobs and heartbeats
Your scheduled jobs ping a URL when they run. If a ping is late, or a job reports a failure, you hear about it.
Servers
A tiny shell agent reports CPU, memory, disk and load every minute, with thresholds that open incidents.
TCP, ping and DNS
Check that a port accepts connections, a host answers ping, or a DNS record resolves to the value you expect.
Fast checks
Check as often as every 20 seconds on Business, 30 seconds on Essentials and Pro.
Confirmed failures
A failed check is repeated from other locations before anyone is woken up, so blips stay quiet.
Ways to be told
Email, SMS, phone calls, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, Google Chat, Telegram, webhooks, PagerDuty and Opsgenie.
Fewer "is it down?" emails
A status page that updates itself when a monitor fails, and that you can add to with incident updates and planned maintenance.
Hosted and on your domain
Publish at a free address, or point status.yourdomain.com at it. Add your logo, colour and links.
90 days of history
Uptime bars and response times for each service, grouped the way your customers think about them.
Subscribers
Visitors subscribe by email and hear about incidents and maintenance as you post updates.
Private pages
Password-protect a page for internal teams or a single customer.
The right person, every time
Incidents open and close on their own. Post updates, link affected services, and let escalation policies chase until someone takes ownership.
Rotations
Daily, weekly or custom shifts across your team, with overrides for holidays and swaps.
Escalation policies
Notify whoever is on call first, then the next person, then the whole team, until someone acknowledges.
One-click acknowledge
Every alert carries a link. Acknowledging stops the escalation and tells everyone it has an owner.
Alerts where your team already works
Route each monitor to its own channels, set team-wide defaults, or hand everything to an escalation policy.

Questions
How does a monitor decide something is down?
When a check fails we don't alert straight away. We re-check from other locations (or retry from the same one if you only use one). Only when those agree is an incident opened and your alerts sent. When the next check passes, the incident is resolved and you're told how long it lasted.
What counts towards my monitor limit?
Every monitor counts once, whatever its type and however many locations check it. Server agents also have their own limit per plan.
How do heartbeat monitors work?
Each heartbeat has its own URL. Call it at the end of your job (curl is enough). If we don't hear from the job within its expected period plus the grace time you set, the monitor goes down. Call the /fail URL to report a failure straight away.
Can I use my own domain for a status page?
Yes, on the paid plans. Add the domain to the page, point a CNAME at us, and the page is served there with HTTPS.
How do SMS and phone call alerts work?
Each paid plan includes a monthly allowance of SMS and call credits; one message or call uses one credit. Add phone numbers to an SMS or phone channel, or to team members for on-call alerts.
Is there an API?
Yes. Everything you can do in the app, from monitors and incidents to maintenance, status pages and reports, is available over a REST API with team API keys.
How does billing work?
Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller, which takes care of tax and invoices. You can switch plan, change between monthly and yearly, update your card or cancel from the app at any time. Questions? Email uptimedog@makingstuffs.com.
