An Instatus alternative with monitoring built in
Instatus is known for fast, good-looking hosted status pages. Uptime Dog starts from monitoring and includes a status page that updates itself from those monitors. Here's how they differ.
Based on public information as of October 2026. Check Instatus's own site for current plans and prices. Instatus is a trademark of its owner; Uptime Dog isn't affiliated with it.

The main differences
Where the status comes from
A Uptime Dog status page is fed by its own monitors. When a check fails and the failure is confirmed, an incident opens and the page changes without anyone posting. If you use a status page product alongside separate monitoring, that link is an integration to set up and keep working.
What else is in the plan
Uptime Dog plans include the monitoring itself, alert channels from email to PagerDuty, on-call rotations and escalation policies, browser checks, heartbeats for cron jobs and log search. If you only need a status page, that's more than you need; if you were going to buy those separately, it's fewer tools to pay for and connect.
Depth of status page features
Status pages are Instatus's whole focus, so expect its page options to go further than ours in places. Our pages cover groups, display names, uptime bars, sparklines, incident history, maintenance, email subscribers, password protection, RSS and JSON feeds and your own domain. Subscribers are by email only.

When Instatus is the better choice
No tool is right for everyone. Instatus is likely to suit you better if:
- You already have monitoring you like and only need a status page.
- You need status page features beyond the list above, such as subscriber channels other than email. Check Instatus for the specifics.
- Design and customisation of the public page matter more to you than the monitoring behind it.
Moving from Instatus
Set up your monitors first (the REST API helps if you have many), group them on a Uptime Dog status page, then point your status subdomain's CNAME at us and add the TXT record the app shows. Past incident history doesn't move across automatically.
Set up your first monitor in under a minute
Uptime Dog is free for up to 20 monitors. No card needed.
