The main differences

Detection and communication in one place

With a communication-only status page, someone has to notice the problem and update the page, or you connect a monitoring tool to do it. Uptime Dog opens an incident and updates the page when a confirmed failure happens, then resolves both when the check passes. You can still post your own updates, mark them public or internal, and schedule maintenance.

Scale of audience

Statuspage is used by very large companies for very large audiences, with options for that. Our pages are aimed at small and medium teams: email subscribers with double opt-in, password protection, RSS and JSON feeds.

Atlassian integration

If your team lives in Jira and Confluence, Statuspage fits in alongside them. Uptime Dog connects through webhooks, PagerDuty, Opsgenie, chat tools and its REST API instead.

Moving from Statuspage

Recreate your components as monitors and group them on a Uptime Dog page with display names that match what customers know. Ask subscribers to resubscribe: email lists need their own double opt-in. Then move the status domain with a CNAME and TXT record.
