The main differences
What happens after the alert
Both tools tell you something is down. Uptime Dog then helps you handle it: rotations decide who is responsible, escalation policies chase until someone acknowledges, incidents keep a timeline, and the logs around the incident are a click away.
Checks beyond uptime
Uptime Dog includes browser checks that walk through steps in a real Chromium, a server agent for CPU, memory, disk and load, and DNS checks with expected values. Every failure is confirmed before alerting.
Free plans
Our Free plan has 20 monitors checked every 5 minutes, a status page and every alert channel except SMS and calls. UptimeRobot's free plan is one of the best known; compare both against what you need today.

When UptimeRobot is the better choice
No tool is right for everyone. UptimeRobot is likely to suit you better if:
- You need a large number of simple monitors at the lowest cost.
- You want a native mobile app. UptimeRobot has one; Uptime Dog is a web app.
- You value a very long track record and a large user base.
Moving from UptimeRobot
Recreate monitors with the REST API or by hand (the app lets you test each one before saving), copy heartbeat URLs into your cron jobs, and move your status page domain once everything is green.
